Some diseases have alarmingly high R. See measles and pertussis, ripping at ~12-18. Anything over 3 (SARS, influenza, rabies, etc) is VERY worrisome. R is aggravated by whether the medium of infection. Airborne transmitted diseases are particularly bad,because they tend to spread via fomites (say it, don't spray it) and the like. Diseases which spread via bodily fluids (HIV, Ebola, Marburg, etc) are scary, but somewhat easy to isolate/shield. Hantavirus R is nor very high. # Hantavirus 3/x
