1. Service description

HORIZON is a live hantavirus outbreak surveillance and OSINT platform. We aggregate publicly available outbreak signal from the World Health Organization, US CDC, ECDC, PAHO, ProMED, national public-health authorities, peer-reviewed literature, and open news. We do not provide clinical advice, diagnostic services, or treatment recommendations.

2. Open data licence

All data, prose, structured data, sitemaps, feeds, and JSON endpoints on this site are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). You may copy, redistribute, transform, and build upon this material for any purpose, including commercially, provided you give attribution to 79th Unit Limited and link back to hantavirus.software. The CC BY 4.0 attribution baked into our embeddable widgets satisfies the licence requirement for widget embeds.

You may mirror, scrape, index, train models on, and otherwise process HORIZON content under CC BY 4.0. You may not:

HORIZON is a surveillance and OSINT platform, not a clinical service. Nothing on this site constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendation. If you are unwell, contact a qualified clinician or your local public-health authority. We are not a substitute for the WHO Disease Outbreak News, ECDC weekly threats report, CDC HAN advisories, or any other authoritative public-health bulletin. Read those alongside.

5. Accuracy disclaimer

We follow strict editorial standards: every record is tied to a named, published source; corrections are logged in our public corrections log; and the underlying methodology is documented at /methodology. Notwithstanding, we make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, currency, or fitness for any particular purpose of the content, and we accept no liability for any loss arising from reliance on it.

6. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law. Subject to that, our total aggregate liability to you for any cause of action arising under or in connection with these terms is limited to GBP 100. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, special, or punitive losses.

7. Third-party links

HORIZON links to external sources (WHO, CDC, ECDC, news outlets, etc.). Those sites are operated by independent third parties; we are not responsible for their content, policies, or availability.

8. Termination

We may suspend or restrict access from any IP address, network, or account that materially breaches these terms or our acceptable use policy. The site itself remains a public resource under CC BY 4.0 and we will not arbitrarily restrict public access.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the corrections log with the effective date. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising under them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
