Hantaviruses are emerging zoonotic pathogens responsible for two severe clinical syndromes: (i) haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) and (ii) hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS), collectively causing more than 200,000 human cases annually worldwide.
