Currently, there is no SPECIFIC treatment for either strain of Hantavirus. The European strain, which affects primarily kidneys, seems to respond fairly well to ribavirin IV. Americas strain (pulmonar) less so. Care for the sick is also simple, just support stable metabolism. Thankfully, Hantavirus, like most Bunyavirus, are relatively easy to avoid. Wash your hands. Careful food prep. Don't lick windows or door knobs. Avoid kissing or licking rodents and their fluids. # Hantavirus 6/x
